Panerai have just released a new series of their Luminor 1950 Sealand Watch ($25,500), in collaboration with British gun maker Purdey.  The timepiece, with its protective metal shield “hunter’s case,” is hand engraved to celebrate the “Big Five” of Africa’s hunting animals.  Each of these 80 limited edition watches has either a lion, rhinoceros, water buffalo, leopard, or elephant featured, in ornate hunting rifle gunmetal engraving style.  It takes, on average, about a week for the engraver to complete each case.

The shock-protected movement inside is a 42 hour-reserve, automatic mechanical exclusive Panerai OP III calibre, with 21 jewels and Panerai’s personalized oscillating weight.  Just like the protecting top, the chunky 44 mm case is made of corrosion-resistant AISI 316L Brushed Steel, with a black & grey dial underneath the Sapphire crystal.  Arriving with a 5 bar (~50 metres) water resistance and a golden calf leather strap, this unique and beautifully detailed watch should bring out the exotic hunter in you.
